The founding of Britain's first dedicated electric blues club - The Ealing Blues Club on March 17 1962 by Alexis Korner & Cyril Davies was to be the catalyst which sparked the Blues boom of the '60s and subsequently British Rock Music. Mojo Magazine has described Ealing as: 'The Cradle of British Rock Music'. The Ealing Blues Festival, which started in 1987 celebrates this heritage and is now London's longest running Blues Festival.

2024 EALING BLUES FESTIVAL

SATURDAY 27 & SUNDAY 28 JULY
Walpole Park, Mattock Lane, Ealing, London W5

Featuring in 2024:

SONS OF CREAM

The Ealing Blues Club was where Bassist Jack Bruce and Drummer Ginger Baker met auditioning for Blues Incorporated. This would ultimately lead to the forming of CREAM who would become one of the biggest bands of the ‘60’s. Their ‘live’ version of Robert Johnson’s ‘Crossroads’ is still seen as one of the ‘benchmarks’ for rock guitar playing and their hit single ‘I Feel Free’ can still be heard on TV adverts today! Thus we are delighted to have SONS OF CREAM celebrating CREAM’s musical legacy. The band features drummer Kofi Baker (son of Ginger) and bassist Malcolm Bruce (son of Jack).

SELWYN BIRCHWOOD (U.S.A.)

Beating 150 other acts to win the 2013 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, he was signed to premier Blues label, Alligator Records. He is one of the current wave of musicians maintaining the heritage in ‘The Land Where The Blues Began’. Rolling Stone Magazine said, ‘A remarkable contemporary Bluesman… a powerhouse young guitarist and soulful vocalist… a major player… highly recommended’.

WHEN RIVERS MEET

Multiple winners in The UK Blues Awards. When Rivers Meet are one of the rising bands of the current Brit Blues scene with their most recent album even making it into the Top Ten. Fronted by singer, mandolinist, violinist Grace Bond and her guitarist husband Aaron they blend roots Blues and Rock attitude.

MARSHALL RECORDS ALBUM LAUNCH

‘LIVIN’ THE BLUES’ by TERRY MARSHALL & FRIENDS

Marshall is arguably the most famous Guitar Amplifier brand in the world with the first of their amps being built in Hanwell in 1962 only 1.5 miles from the Ealing Blues Festival site. Terry Marshall was there at the beginning! He’s put together a Blues album that features some of the top ‘up and coming’ blues musos and some ‘elder statesmen’ of Brit Rock. What better event to launch it at!
